OK, so sig 17 is SIGCHLD??? This is weird. I'm not that familiar with
latest upstream nbd-client, but is there maybe some fork or thread
that is happening? Is this ps listing all threads (perhaps 2853 is a
sub-thread of nbd-client?).

Agreed...it certainly looks that way...

I'll look at latest nbd-client source and see if anything looks
suspicious, but in the meantime if anyone more familiar with that code
can chime in, that would be great.
