Dear Nbd General,
Mumbai is a city of dreams - a city that accepts with open arms, every dream,
and works towards fulfilling it. That’s why they say, the city never sleeps.
With millions of dreams and aspirations to fulfil, where is the time to sleep?
And Mumbai works tirelessly, uncomplainingly. Millions have made Mumbai their
home, but the city has never closed its doors to anyone. That is what makes
this city the power-house of India’s spectacular growth story, one of the
strongest pillars of India’s unity.
No other city has braved as much as Mumbai. The perpetrators of 26/11 have been
brought to justice but the city never forgets its brave and though wounds have
healed, the pain remains as Mumbai has always fought back.
Mumbai fought back by working even harder and taking both Mumbai and India to
even greater heights. We also responded by reaffirming and strengthening our
unity as a city and as a nation. No one can break the spirit of a people who
are united.
Unfortunately, there are elements who have tried to create divisions to weaken
this very spirit. They divide one Mumbaikar from another for political gains.
But they don’t realise that the essence of Mumbai lies in its generosity, its
ability to welcome everyone who comes here with a dream.
One such dream belongs to Mikhail, a taxi driver in Mumbai. “People all over
the country live next to me. Whenever one of us is in need, the others come
forward to help,” Mikhail says, narrating the experience of almost every
Mumbaikar.
Only the Congress party, Mikhail feels, believes in “uniting people.” “We are
all Indians. And this is the ideology of the Congress party.” Watch this video
