I've pushed up some code to GitHub that uses CGit for status listings if available - this means the IDE status display honors the content of .gitignore / other ignore methods.
It's passed my few hour smoke test for my work, however I'd love for other people to grab the code from http://github.com/lstoll/nbgit, build it, and let me know how it goes for you.
