Hi Mathias, Yea it was intentional. My reasoning is this:
- In most applications, users dont need or want to maximize views. Eclipse is a much more complicated and feature-ful application compared to normal RCP apps. - If users don't really need it, its best removed to avoid the added complexity to the UI. - I haven't seen many typical end-user applications that provide a similar feature. If you do modify the code to add this feature - as long as its a high quality patch and you make it preference based - I will commit the patch. But make sure you use preferences for it. The eclipse.ini is for core runtime options. This would be a plugin preference. But it could be nice to configure this behaviour and perhaps other by settings preference in the eclipse.ini file. The presentation was made with very specific features in mind. There is no way to maximize a view. You can only maximize the editor area. You also cannot minimize either. This was a deliberate decision. The source is available in CVS. There is a project in the nebula module for it. The Nebula project is under the Technology project.
