Hmm. Ok. I'll leave it up to the Eclipse IP folks to make any
determination on that. You're probably ok but they'll need to sign-off.
I'll go ahead and start a committer vote. Once you are a committer, we
will have to go through the Eclipse IP process for your contribution.

regards,
-Chris

Re: [nebula-dev] JGoodies FormLayout port

This is a clean-room implementation modeled after the JGoodies FormLayout
API--there are no licensing issues. If I remember properly I think there
are even a couple places where I deviated from JGoodies API to make it
more SWT centric.

I think thats about all we can expect - so as long as you are willing to
support it then I think we're ok.

Regarding the code itself - is there any IP issues related to the original
JGoodies code? How does this relate to that? How is JGoodies licensed?

Re: [nebula-dev] JGoodies FormLayout port

Chris,

I can commit to supporting the code on an off-time basis. However there
will be periods (sometimes weeks at a time) when I'm unavailable. If
you're comfortable with this then I'd be happy to join the Nebula project
and personally support this contribution.

Hi Matthew,

I appreciate your contribution but I'm a little concerned as well. The
Nebula project is made up of committers who all have other jobs and
responsibilities and just contribute in their off-time. Without a
committment from your side for support and maintenance, I don't know what
use it is to have FormLayout in Nebula.

Is there someone else in the community who would be willing to take it up?
Someone who is prepared to answer questions on the newsgroup, manage
bugzilla issues, etc? Having found my own free time dwindle and not
finding the necessary time to spend on my own components - I know this can
be difficult.

Re: [nebula-dev] JGoodies FormLayout port

I'm contributing my JGoodies style FormLayout class to the Nebula project,
under the Eclipse Public License. I am a committer on Platform UI so an
IP review shouldn't be necessary. Though it might be a good idea to check
with your PMC first, just in case.

Due to my work schedule and current level of involvement in DataBinding I
cannot commit to supporting this code long term. I will be happy to help
whoever wants to take this on to get started and explain anything that
needs explaining.

Note that at the time I originally wrote this code, I was brand new to SWT
and wrote this as an exercise to familiarize myself with it. You may
experience moments of sudden, sharp pain to your forehead before the
initial review is over. I'm just saying.

With that out of the way, enjoy, and please don't hesitate to ask me
questions. You can write me directly, through nebula-dev or CC me to a
bugzilla--whatever you prefer.

Hi Matthew

I used a port of the jgoodies formlayout to swt in my last project and
was very pleased of it's power and easyness. Is the code you want to
contribute the version that might found at
http://ffxml.net/swtforms.html ?

Hi Matthew,

Where could I obtain the code? I'd like to see how much work is
involved to determine if I can spend time on it.

      Hello all,

We discussed a port of the JGoodies FormLayout to SWT on the
      newsgroup a
week or so ago. I've looked over my code--which was written
      when I was
very new to SWT--and it's a little embarrassing. It works but
      it has
some problems, notably that I still don't know how layout
      caching is
      supposed to work.

I'm happy to contribute the code as is and help to improve and
      polish
it. However with my involvement in DataBinding, I won't have
      enough
time to support it on my own. I'd like to know beforehand
      that there
are others willing to help maintain it.
