Since it’s a SWT TreeViewer, it is definitely possible to toggle it, but the implementation of Xviewer features was always based on a full selection. Some time would have to be spent trying it out and seeing what would have to be disabled/updated for that.
There is an example bundle that you could play around with to see what broke.
