HIGHLIGHTS: It was a beautiful spring day on Mt. Hope Bay with temperatures in
the 60s, though not so great for sailing in the morning. A Division
aggressively took to the water in an effort to get a start off by 10, but it
was not meant to be, the wind topped out at 2.8 knots in a puff. So after
floating around for a while, the postponement continued ashore. The competitive
spirit abound, there would be some on-the-water racing after all in KAYAKS. I
know people don't like attachments on the NEISA list, so I have uploaded photos
of the tandem kayak relay races on Sailgroove.org
And the results are as follows:
1st: URI
2nd: UConn
3rd: RWU ** under review (the first relay team did not finish with the same #
of people that they started with. Thanks to Salve for picking up the ejected
player.)
4th: CGA
5th: UVM
6th: Salve
7th: Brown
A light breeze filled in from the forecasted WNW at the conclusion of the kayak
series and sailboat racing got underway. W3, W4, and W5 courses were sailed. At
the tail end of the B division set, it looked as though the breeze might die
again, so we decided to keep B on for three races. Then do one final A race.
Shortly after the start of the 3rd B race, the wind piped up and there was one
capsize. No protests were filed.
