These are the results for: Northern Series 1 @ Southern Maine April 18 Posted by: Jeff Cumming On 4/19/2009 Northern Series 1 at USM, 4/18/09 The predicted SE breeze never filled, and we had no wind at all until about 12:50 pm. At that point a light north-northwesterly filled and we headed out. The breeze faded but didn't shift significantly before race one ended, and we delayed further on the water while adjusting the course. Finally a steadier pattern occurred as the clouds started to clear, and we got off races 2, 3 and 4 in a filling north-northwesterly which built to 10+ knots under sunny skies by the time racing ended for the day. Courses were one W2 (race 2) and three W4s. Water temp was 41 degrees, air temp in the 50s. Much thanks to Coach Lenny from Bentley who ran our mark boat, and to the Bentley sailors who were a help on the floats. All sailors were good sports with the long delay and the difficult conditions and it was a pleasure to provide a regatta for them. Unfortunately, two teams neglected to sign the RP forms and received the 20pt penalty. Because of that error, congrats go to Vermont ! who picked up the win over PC who had it going away otherwise. As others have said, it appears that this weekend is overbooked (only 4 teams attended this event) and perhaps a regatta should be dropped from this weekend in next year's schedule.
