NEISA, here is the report from the New London Invitational at the US Coast Guard Academy,
Saturday: Crazy conditions on the Thames river as the breeze started from the NW, went hard W and settled in the afternoon from the SW. Breeze ranged from 3-25 knots with huge shifts all over the place. All courses sailed were W-4 with a windward offset and leeward gates. A-division sailed FJ's all day and finished 12 races while B-division was in 420's and completed 10 races. The divisions will switch fleets to start Sunday beginning with B-division. Thanks to all the Coast Guard Cadets for a great day of racing on the Thames River. A few teams just disappeared half way through the day leaving the rotation in complete disarray. Please if you choose to stop sailing for any reason atleast stick around and help with the rotations, it is poor sportsmanship to just leave. Full results can be viewed on the NEISA website through Tech Score at the following link. Sunday: Another great day of sailing on the Thames River. Wind conditions began the day in a WSW direction eventually settling in the SW sea breeze direction. Breeze ranged from 5-15 knots in almost perfect sailing conditions. All coursed were W-4's with a windward offset and leeward gates. In all 18 races per division were sailed with no protests. Thanks to all the cadets who sailed and ran a great event. The J&W scores reflect a combo Conn/CGA team that sailed on Sunday as J&W and Wesleyan were both no-shows on Sunday. More DNS's need to be put into the results and J&W results will change to all DNS's tomorrow. Full results can be viewed at the following link: Congratulations to Dartmouth taking the top two spots. http://regatta.mit.edu/s10/new-london-invitational/ Mark Zagol Head Sailing Coach US Coast Guard Academy (860) 444-8507 office (860) 234-4593 cell ________________________________________________ neisa mailing list [email protected] http://www.collegesailing.org/mailman/?listname=neisa Unsubscribe: Send a blank email to [email protected]
