1) "I was heavily involved with the Shootout for a while (until Isaac Gouy took over and tried to be more Fascist than Adolf Hitler)."
This is the kind of personal abuse John Skaller was heavily involved with on the Shootout mailing list. 2) "I argued strenuously -- along with Jon Harrop -- the tests should be functional and independent of how the result was calculated, but Isaac didn't like that so he kicked both of us out." Argued strenuously and abusively and endlessly. Neither Jon Harrop or John Skaller were ever prevented from posting to the Shootout mailing list. Anyone with a week to waste can read the archives http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/shootout-list/ A year ago Jack Andrews announced "the shootin" on the Shootout mailing list. At the time I hoped to see all the complaints resolved into support and enthusiasm for "the shootin" but that doesn't seem to have happened http://shootin.sourceforge.net/ 3) "He removed Felix, after I worked for months on the compiler and tests" Presumably Felix doesn't just exist for The Computer Language Shootout. Certainly The Computer Language Shootout does not exist to promote Felix. FAQ "Why don't you include my favourite language?" http://shootout.alioth.debian.org/gp4sandbox/faq.php#acceptable iirc Felix didn't have implementations for the current tests only for the old Doug Bagley tests we no longer show on the main pages. 4) "he revoked Jon's CVS access to prevent him contributing the kinds of tests he thought made more sense" Jon Harrop knew what was being asked for and chose to do otherwise, but CVS access was revoked because there were public disputes over the authorship of programs. iirc that's also in the mailing-list archives Isaac Gouy __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
