[Neko] OO unified database API?

Has anyone written (or started writing) an object-oriented, unified 
database API for neko?  I'm thinking something along the lines of JDO 
(Java) or PDO (PHP).  I was just about to start writing one for myself 
but I thought it might be a good idea to check first whether anyone is 
already working on this.
