American Cancer Society Support for Survivors and Patients
http://www.cancer.org/

Tomorrow, the first of October marks the beginning of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  The incidence of breast cancer has officially risen from one in eight to one in seven.  The American Cancer Society's 'Reach to Recovery' is a program that matches trained breast cancer survivors with breast cancer patients giving 'patients and their family members an opportunity to express feelings, talk about fears and concerns, and ask questions of someone who is knowledgeable and level-headed.'  Should you have the need or know someone who needs such support, here's your resource for unique support.  Men, be aware that breast cancer is not isolated to women, so please don't dismiss this support site.  There is a Detailed Guide to Male Breast Cancer for your information.

Additionally, during the months of October and November the Mars Company will be retailing a special pack of pink and white M&M's Milk Chocolate Candies to support the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.  For each pack sold, a $.50 donation will be made to this foundation that has as its mission 'to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening and treatment.'  Now everyone can support Breast Cancer Awareness and satisfy that sweet tooth in the process!

After she took my charge card, the department store clerk commented, "Wow. Priscilla . You don't see that name much anymore." "I suppose that's true," I said. Thinking of the famous Pilgrim courtship of Priscilla and John Alden, I added, "Like the woman who married -- " "Oh, I know," she interrupted. "Elvis."

INGREDIENTS:
1-1/4 pounds boneless lean lamb, cut into 1-inch cubes
2 (14-ounce) cans beef broth
1 cup water
2 cups coarsely chopped cabbage
1 cup chopped carrots
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped peeled rutabaga
1/3 cup quick-cooking barley
1 teaspoon thyme
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon allspice
