Last week I talked about how we're starting to look into the future,
and this week I'm
excited to introduce you to the idea of Internet Suspend/Resume. In Roll Out,
Roll Back, Roll On: Internet Suspend/Resume, Rebecca
Rohan explains how in the near future you may be able to walk away
from your
computer and pick up where you left off at a "blank" computer wherever
you happen to be. Talk
about pervasive computing! (I can see the 'net addiction hotlines
ringing now...)
Also this week, if you've building web services applications, you
probably need to be dealing
with an application server, so this week I present to you Lajos
Moczar's Tomcat 5
Administration Basics, from his book Tomcat 5 Unleashed.
Just because Tomcat is free doesn't mean it's any less capable than its corporate offspring, so knowing how to get in there and make the most of
it is definitely to your advantage.
Also, on the lighter side, Nigel
McFarlane gives us Searching
for Substance: Web Browser Olympic Scorecard, in which he compares,
once and for ... well, now, IE, Mozilla, Opera, and KHTML/Safari in
various events such as understanding web content and keeping users safe
from villians.
Plus, this week I've added a new section on the Web Service Resource
Framework (WSRF).
