* PDA Pick: Toshiba Pocket PC E800 *
This handsome Pocket PC handheld includes Wi-Fi and a choice of two
screen resolutions.
The E800 is designed for corporate users. It comes with 128MB of RAM,
a Secure Digital card slot, and a CompactFlash slot. What's more, it
offers such business-oriented functions as Text-to-Speech and Voice
Command utilities--although they require some practice to use
effectively.
Toshiba also gives you some display options. Its Home screen can be
displayed several ways, and you can split the screen vertically to
show more than one view at a time. You can set up an optional pane at
the bottom to display a system status bar and a summary view of your
appointments, to-do list, and messages. The screen's native resolution
is 240 by 320 pixels, which you can change to 480 by 640.
You'll find the standard navigation buttons on the front of the case
and a scroll wheel on the left side that lets you navigate and execute
commands with one hand.
Windows Media Player is preloaded. The E800's advanced audio controls
let you adjust the bass and treble, and control the volume for each
side of the headphones. Also bundled is a recharging cradle.
The Toshiba Pocket PC E800 typically sells for around $595. We found

* Point-and-Shoot Digital Camera Pick: HP Photosmart R707 *
This compact, 5.1-megapixel camera performed moderately well in our
image-quality tests. It offers a few advanced-level features but is
still suitable for novices.
The Photosmart R707 has clear, readable menus and a useful Help menu
that offers tips on camera use and explains its features. HP provides
seven different scene modes, including panorama. You have a choice of
only two aperture values at each zoom level, and there's no shutter
priority option. But you can save your favorite settings in the
camera's My Mode.
Two dedicated buttons let you tag pictures to print or e-mail them to
a preassigned address the next time you connect the camera to your PC.
The HP Photosmart R707 typically sells for around $350. We found one
with the PC World Product Finder for $284 from BuyDig.

* Color Laser Printer Pick: Lexmark C752n *
The C752n is easy to use and expandable, but is better suited to
printing text than for producing graphics.
It's not a speed demon. Printing text at 13.5 pages per minute, it's a
bit slower than the average; at 4.3 ppm, its graphics printing was
slightly faster than average. Its text and line art printing was
sharp. Gray-scale photos looked dark but retained detail; color was a
bit flat but also retained good detail.
The C752n is easy to get into; the toner cartridges are easily
accessible, as is the auxiliary feed. The printer has two sturdy
handles on each side, making it easy to lift.
Lexmark provides copious documentation, including materials for quick
reference and posters with advice for clearing jams. Also bundled is
an on-screen PDF library and material on Lexmark's MarkVision printer
management software. Setup was quick and installation was simple.
The C752n is extremely expandable. A duplexer is available for $549; a
basic 500-sheet paper feeder costs $412; and a 2000-sheet feeder,
$1249. You can also get a $2499 finisher that can staple and
hole-punch up to 90 sets of a 30-page document. Other accessories
include a five-bin mailbox ($440); a 60-envelope feeder ($399); and a
multifunction subsystem that scans, copies, and faxes ($4299).
The Lexmark C752n typically sells for around $2339. We found one with
the PC World Product Finder for $1606 from EBuyer.
