Hello there! I have been traveling cross-country since selling my
house in the MIDWEST in August.

I have, as you may remember, a '90 Toyota with a '91 Odyssey atop. I
have never had a moment's problem with any of the TRUCK'S parts or
systems, but had to put about $2,300 worth of repair/replacement
parts for the systems in the camper.

I was having a new muffler/tailpipe put on when I walked underneath
the camper to notice a lot of fluid near the tranny. The muffler guy
sent me to a transmission place last THursday evening and upon
examination of the transmission seal/driveline he said that it was
RIGHT SNUG UP AGAINST the yoke (?), leaving no room for movement.

He next said that there was no # on the seal but that thru trial and
error he had learned from Toyota that they could not offer a seal nor
could any other tranny place.

I was STRANDED, thus, for 4 nights in Oceanside, CA (not that the
area is unpleasant!) and finally on Monday they had taken the
driveline to a machine shop which cut off about 1/2 inch of the
driveline in order to put the correct type of seal in.

Has anyone else experienced this problem??? Obviously it had not
failed for 13 years and I am puzzled as to why this stymied the
tranny place!

Jane
