Hey Jeff,
You're life sounds like mine � Home Depot, Lowes, Expo, � Must have
purchased a new house also! Toss in a daughter with a social
schedule, and the boat's not gotten the use I would like.
We went out on Saturday afternoon, hoping to make it to Redfish
Island, but there was a pretty good blow that chopped up Galveston
Bay. So we hugged the shoreline and made a run for a protected
anchorage. Met up with 28R's owned by Marc Waters and Kevin Grice,
and their crew � a One Design raft up! Fired up a couple of barbeque
pits � yep, they fit One Design boats too � and Marc made shrimp
tacos, pico, avacado. (I managed to burn a few tortilla's!) Kevin's
aptly-named Rumline kept everyone fixed up with rum drinks. The temp
was in the mid 80's, and Galveston Bay still warm enough for my
daughter and I to go swimming.
Later the wind subsided to a steady eight knots and flat water. The
sun slowly set, we doused the ambers (next time have to remember
Smores fixings!), then sailed back under a sky full of stars. Night
sailing is so cool, and tranquil.
