InformIT NET Newsletter Oct 26, 2004 NET Reference Guide Your Host Jim Mischel I've had occasion recently to become much more familiar with the large library of Application Blocks for .NET. These blocks of code provide implementation of tasks that are common to most applications. They're user-tested, typically well optimized, and relatively bug-free. I've found them quite useful when developing software for clients, and thought the readers here should know about them. One of the benefits of writing this weekly column is getting to recommend articles and books. That encourages me read whatever articles are posted each week, and I usually learn a thing or two in the process. Having recently fought with callback delegates, I was interested in Jon Shemitz's article Delegates vs. Interfaces in .NET. Jon shows how to implement callbacks using interfaces—a technique that can result in cleaner and more efficient code. He also provides some insight into why interfaces are often a better choice than delegates. Highly recommended.
