Dear Friend,

Our lives should be a living testimony, witnessing to the goodness of
God by a thankful life that is full of praise. And just in case
instructions are needed, God provides them for us in Scripture. Psalm
118:1 tells us why we should be thankful, 1 Thessalonians 5:16,17 tells
us when; while Psalm 100 shows us how.

An ungrateful heart is the doorway to rebellion, which invites
resentment, pride, self-pity and envy to set up residence. Ingratitude
filters out the blessing of God's grace and looks only for that which is
missing. The unthankful Prodigal son rebelled, thinking he could do
better on his own with his inheritance. Complaining Hebrews did not
appreciate the manna provided in the desert, rather they craved the
'free' food they had while slaves in Egypt. Miriam and Aaron complained
that brother Moses was the only one through whom God spoke. Not only
does an unthankful heart grieve the Lord, it also angers Him and limits
what He would like to do for His children.

Do you need to cultivate a grateful heart that is fixed in the nature of
God and your fellowship with Him? If we can learn to give thanks in
every area of our life, independent of our circumstances, then we can
rejoice in the Lord always!

"O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good: for His mercy endures
forever. O give thanks unto the God of gods; for His mercy endures
forever. O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for His mercy endures
forever." Psalm 136:1-2

What does it mean to really live? INSIGHT FOR LIVING's, Chuck Swindoll
explains that you'll really begin to live when you do an attitude check
and you bring joy with an attitude of gratitude back into your life.
Listen to Paul in 1 Thessalonians 3:9: "What thanks can we render to God
for you in return for all the joy with which we rejoice before our God
on your account?" You might think times were good for Paul, but they
were filled with affliction, suffering, conflict, and the devil
hindering him. But he still has a joyful attitude of gratitude. Read
more in his FREE article, "Cultivating an Attitude of Gratitude.":

GRACE TO YOU's John MacArthur shares five blessings that deeply touch
him every year, prompting him to thank God. Read more in his FREE
article, "Rekindling the Gratitude," as he explains how gratitude is an
attitude, a God-focused response to circumstances that should pervade
each moment of each day of each year.:
