Are the Unix/RISC systems in your data center offering value sufficient
to cover their high cost? That doesn't have to be the case. In this
eSeminar we will evaluate the Cost, Value and Risk (CVR) of
Windows/Intel versus Unix/RISC.

"I.T. Doesn't Matter" ? Harvard Business Review

"Has Technology Lost Its 'Special' Status?" ? The New York Times

"The Industry Has Entered Its Post-Technology Period" ? IBM

Is this true? What does the data tell us?

   * Studies show that I.T. organizations spend an average of 70% of
their budget running and maintaining current systems, leaving only
30% for development and deployment of new capabilities.
   * The studies show that the same I.T. groups want to get to the
point where they can spend 45% of their budget on new
capabilities. This would be a 50% increase of spend on new
     capabilities.
   * 10 years ago, 70% of the average I.T. budget went for hardware
expenses. Today that is down to 17% but now 50% of our budgets go
to people costs. And in general, budgets haven't decreased.
   * Albert Einstein defined insanity this way: Doing the same thing
over and over again and expecting different results.

Are we in that state today by the way we make decisions in I.T.? What is
the risk of continuing to do things the way we have been? Can we find
new or different ways to doing things that will reduce operational cost,
speed our delivery of new capabilities to the business and return
greater value to a company, as a whole? This is our challenge.

Jerry Murphy, Senior Vice-President & Services Director, Infrastructure
Strategies, Meta Group will offer a unique perspective on key trends
impacting your IT environment and insights into building a more adaptive
and less RISC infrastructure to support your business. And this eSeminar
will address RISC platforms, how they contribute to the cost, value,
risk equation of IT today as well as the Unisys and Microsoft solutions
and options for taking some of the cost and RISC out of your business.
