Crafting Tips - Great Ideas From Our Readers. Tip 1 - Want to do appliqu� and have no tear away backing? Tear a sheet of freezer paper the size you need and iron with the waxed side against the fabric. Sew around your appliqu� and peel off the paper. Scrap pieces can be reused and this is also good for making patterns. Draw your patterns on the paper, then iron it onto the material and cut out. From Gail B. of Indiana. Tip 2 - You can re-use empty Kool-Aid plastic containers. Wash them and remove the paper on the outside. With a pair of scissors, I cut down to the beginning of the screwing part, sand the top edge, then I give them to my granddaughter to be used as storage for all kinds of little things, such as doll accessories, hair elastics, marbles, etc. I also send some to her kindergarten school to store crayons, chalk, etc. They're also wonderful in the workshop to store screws and other small things.
