Finishing up his three-part series on using CAB Files with
.NET, Jim Mischel discovered that some things didn't work
exactly the way he expected. I'm sure it's happened to you:
you do the initial work on the application, say "Ah! that's
the way to do it!" and tell the boss (or in this case, the
editor) that you can have it done in two weeks. Riiiiight.

Jim discovered a few -- er, let's call them "learning
experiences" about reading and writing cabinet files,
particularly in regard to value semantics and .NET
debugging.

If you've been following along because you're interested in
using CAB files to create your own installation routines, I
don't have to tell you that Jim's article will be valuable.
However, you might want to read through it even if you're
completely disinterested in the topic. Jim's a master
debugger (and one of the wisest programmers I've ever shared
beer with), so you'll probably learn a lot from watching his
troubleshooting techniques.
