Hi Bill, My GCat came to my yard as an extra with my $500 dollar H16 (softdecks and all). The GCat hulls and crossbeams are in better shape than my hobie, The guy I bought both boats from had sailed both, I have never sailed the GCat -it came with a broken mast -and since I'm trying to finish a 3rd degree, and have a hungry 4yr old and wife, have not spent money on rebuilding it.
So, it's a project waiting to happen essentially. Even my H16 looks a bit like a project boat, but I get to sail it occasionally in our Laguna Madre. One of the nice features is for TWO Tramps, a main one and a forward one. It also has three crossbeams, and no dolphin striker. And I rec. lots of extra parts with it because the guy had worn out a previous G-Cat and saved the crossbeams, and rudder foils for it. My wife is lobbying to get rid of both (all three)and get a new sailboat. I'm thinking of building a 14ft boat with some of the parts to avoid the annual registration fee here in Texas. I have a laser sitting in my yard too that arrived via the same deal, and is mine through "adverse posession" essentially. I've used some West System resin and glass on it.
