Ah, the old dead fridge. Heres what I did...
Took out the old Dometic 3-way, boy was that a chore! The fridge was 28in wide and my door only 26in wide so first I had to saw off the old piping to make it narrow enough to fit the door. OK, so far so good. Next I started pricing either a repair or a replacement. If any of you have priced new fridges its as if they are made of gold so, I decided NOT to spend over $1,000 and instead bought a new apartment size fridge from Home Depot (5cu ft, made by Magic Chef) and installed it where the old one was. Now since it runs only on 110V I made a circut where when I am at camp and I plug in land power the fridge works fine. When on the road or rolling I installed a inverter in line which keeps everything cold until I plug into land power. It works great and the best part is, the fridge only cost me $139.00!! I have a switch that allows me to go betwen the inverter and land power!! It works, looks good and I now have cold beer an d frozen pizza all the time! Good luck, I think this is the best alternative I have found for replacing the fridge.
