Ratan Tata to head investment panel
Finance minister P Chidambaram announced on Sunday the setting up of
three-member Investment Commission, headed by Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata.
The other two members are HDFC chairman Deepak Parikh, chairman of I-OneSource
and former chairman of HLL Ashok Ganguly.

Pandoras box set to open for drug majors
The opening of the mailbox of patent applications in January 2005 will force a
shakeout in the domestic pharma market. It will lead to withdrawal of certain
branded generic versions of a clutch of drugs that may get patented in the
exercise. Under the Act all patent applications for drugs are to be deposited
in the mailbox.

Car sales may be hit by double whammy
The proposed hike in interest rates for motor vehicle loans and increase in car
prices may lead to a slowing down of the high growth rates witnessed over past
few months. Most car companies are looking at a hike in prices in January on
account of higher input costs and new emission norms.

Media strategies that tell their own tale
As India looms larger on the global corporate map, the number of globetrotting
honchos making whistle-stop tours is growing. They come from all industry
segments IT, aviation, media, FMCG, telecom, banking you name it. While the
season is on, <i>FE</i> takes you behind the scenes of some high-profile
visits.

Government must start performing: Rahul Bajaj
Rahul Bajaj has a way of hitting the nail on the head, of being blunt to a
fault. As when he tells <i>FE</i> in an <a
href="http://www.financialexpress.com/fe_full_story.php?content_id=76092";>exclusive
interview</a> that the Left knows that while the UPA with 220 seats
does not have a majority without their 60, it also knows that the 60 Left party
members on their own have no place at all unless they go along with the UPAs
220.
