Jim,

I noticed a mention of Advanced RV Products in
National City, and I think I should mention a problem
I had with them a couple of years ago. I had an old
Dometic branded Generac generator(noisey as all get
out when it ran), which had a weak spark and I figured
it needed a new coil. I had asked at one dealer and
been quoted $120.00,if it was still abailable. So when
Avanced quoted me $40.00, it seemed like my lucky day.
He had that part along with several others( including
a twin) wraped in one of those orange colored oil rags
in what looked like a dry wall compound bucket. He
assured me it was new. After a couple of hours work
installing it, they are not convieniently located, the
generator that had run poorly before would not run at
all and the spark which had been weak was now
non-existant. Replaced the old coil and was back to
square one. The rub was he refused to take the coil
back claiming that I had probably ruined it by
improper installation. Never even thought it was
possible to ruin a coil that way, not that it seemed
it was even possible to install it wrong.

It was shortsighted of him. He had had me on the verge
of replacing the generator with a neat little light
weight very quiet generac he had for about $1300 and
perhaps a new awning he was quoting $500 for.
