manifolds alone if they are not cracked. the chances of twisting off a
manifold bolt/stud in the head are pretty good and would be a real pain to
get out in place. It was pretty common in the 70's for the manifolds to be
set up as you describe. Unless the manifold is bad it's not worth the
money/work to change them out IMHO.
