My 22 ft. Class A Motor home (Classic Winnebago) gets around 6 to 8 MPG and that's about all that thies old rigs get except  if you want to spend a thousand or so get a better breathing system and carberator.  But I really don't think that spending that extra will pay oft in the long run as how much extra fuel can you buy for the cost of retrofitting your engine. Oyes my engine is a 440 and great for power.
