NAPLES WOMAN RECALLS DEADLY QUAKE OF 1964
The first time Cathy Harris accessed the Internet, she had one thing on her
mind. Harris immediately signed up for e-mails alerting her to earthquakes. Any
time the Richter scale moved past 5.5, she wanted to know. So Harris didn't
have to turn on her TV over the weekend to find out Asia fell victim to
devastation caused by a quake that measured 9.0 this weekend. She doesn't need
newscasters or the pictures flashing there to tell her what nature can do.
She's seen it firsthand.

LAW SCHOOL CONSIDERS MOVE TO FLORIDA
A law school could make its home in the town of Ave Maria, where more than
20,000 people are expected to live by 2016. The Ave Maria Law School in Ann
Arbor, Mich., was created by Domino's Pizza founder Tom Monaghan, who also
founded Ave Maria College in Ypsilanti, Mich. Monaghan plans to close the

ready for students.

LEE SCHOOL DISTRICT FIXES ASBESTOS VIOLATIONS
The Lee County School District has fixed asbestos violations found in a June
2003 inspection by the EPA, Schools Superintendent James Browder said in a
recent response to the agency. Last month, Mark Fite, toxic substances chief
for the Environmental Protection Agency, told the School District it had 30
days to address five asbestos violations, including the potential exposure of
nondistrict workers to asbestos and the failure to get a third-party assessment
of air quality after remodeling an asbestos-laden school.

LOOKING BACK AT 2004: FORMER EHS PRINCIPAL SPENDING HIS RETIREMENT TRAVELING
Fred Bode is finally getting the sleep he needs. He's not awakened in the night
worrying about the next day. He can go to bed with a clear mind. That's what
retirement can do for a man. Bode, the former principal at Estero High School,
retired during the summer, leaving behind the worry and the stress of handling
almost 2,000 students.

EDITORIAL: TSUNAMI TRAGEDY -- FORMER DAILY NEWS EDITOR OFFERS INSIGHTS
The power of nature is awesome to behold. Ralf Kircher, a former colleague and
Naples resident, captured it in words Sunday from a seemingly idyllic tourist
haven on Phuket Island off the coast of Thailand. His account graced our front
page Monday. First, Kircher told how fellow tourists were called out on a
bright, sunny morning to see something extraordinary. All the water had drained
from Patong Bay.

NEAPOLITAN:

$1,000 WILL COME BETWEEN YOU AND THESE HIGH-END JEANS
Designer jeans costing $150 can hardly be called expensive now that Calvin
Stewart has entered the fray. The New York-based designer ratcheted up the
stakes with the introduction of A.P.O. Jeans, offering fully customized denim
embellished with diamond, gold and platinum details starting at $1,000 a
pair. "We wanted to be the Mercedez-Benz, the Maybach of the denim industry,"
