Yahooo groups provide very limited facility, therefore we are planning
to launch Our group Programmers-Town as website, it will be a big
moderated discussion forum.
Where We are planning to provide:
1.Unique login name for every user
Every user will have a unique login name and this login name will be
the only identity of a user for all other users.
2.Increased scope
Right now scope of programmers-Town is limited to only C/C++
We are planning to expand it for more languages/tools.
3.Categorization of postings
Each language/tool will have following categories
Beginners level
Proficient level
Expert level
Career
Project Issues
( Please suggest some more if u have something else in your mind)
4. An option to subscribe each category by separate mail id's
Everyone can subscribe each category with 2 different mail ids
For example :
I can subscribe beginner-type postings with [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I can subscribe Expert -type postings with [EMAIL PROTECTED]
And I can subscribe Career type postings with xyz_ [EMAIL PROTECTED]
5. Reading and replying to mails without subscribing through any
separate mail id
If you don't want to get mails you need not to subscribe by any mail id.
Every user will have their own login name they can just log in go to
particular language
C/C++/java /C#
then go to particular category
Beginners level / Proficient level/ Expert level/ Career /Project Issues
and check the online messages online and reply.
6. More authority to users
User will have more authority, there will be two status of posting
Open/Close.
Suppose you asked some query and as and when you get the correct
answer, you have an option to close your query. In case you got the
answer and you don't close it for long time moderator will have all
the rights to close it.
7. Highlighting Open Unsolved queries
When a user logs in and he goes to a particular language say C
Then he goes to a particular category say advance, there user will
again find two category, Open and Close.
Close category can be *only read* you can not reply to them
Only open queries can be answered.
8. My Page
All users will have their own page in which left side will have a
panel of links, where they will have few links like my posting, my
replies, my points.
9. Point System
For every answer you get some points from questioner (and moderator)
The idea behind this is to involve more and more people into discussion.
10. Programming Contents
Monthly, Quarterly or at least yearly we will have online programming
contents
And the winner will get his name displayed till the next programming
contents and will get a certificate also.
11. Tutorial Section
We will have a tutorial section also where we provide all the tutorial
or link to various tutorials.
12. No Advertisement
It will be a non-commercial site just for sharing knowledge, no
advertisement will be allowed.

what do you want to have in programmers-town, we will try to implement
your valuable suggestion also.

in this E-Community service.
