Some come to ogle Ehlen's verdant, albeit artificial, yard. Others pass by to gawk at one garish wall of Ehlen's home � painted bright pink with polka dots. For whatever reason, people are flocking to 616 Crescent St. to catch a glimpse of the most controversial home in town. "I've got everybody's attention now," Ehlen said. Indeed he does. BEACH ACCESS ADVOCATE IN HOT WATER WITH COMMITTEE Graham Ginsberg was vocal about his opposition to spending tourist tax dollars to renourish Hideaway Beach long before he joined the Collier County Coastal Advisory Committee (CAC) earlier this year. Still, his recent activism in support of public beach access and other issues has gotten him into hot water with fellow CAC members, some of whom are angry that Ginsberg wrote letters to the editor of the Naples Daily News that criticized the advisory board. VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED TO HELP BUILD PLAYGROUND Besides resolving to eat well and exercise this New Year's Day, Marco Islanders can make an effort to better their community. And they can start by building it. The Mackle Park playground committee is still searching for volunteers to help build the Leathers & Associates-designed playground from March 8 to 13. About 50 people have volunteered to help build the playground, said Heidi Moss, the committee's volunteer coordinator. But the committee needs many more. CITY TO INSTALL GRAVITY-BASED SEWER SYSTEM The first phase of a gravity sewer system installation is almost upon us. The Marco Island Public Works Department in January will begin a two-month project to install a gravity-based sewer system along Tigertail Court. Utilities engineer Bruce Weinstein said it will be the first such sewer project the city has overseen since incorporation. Officials of Ave Maria University, which plans to open a teeming campus in eastern Collier County in 2007, have confirmed there is talk of moving the Ave Maria Law School from Ann Arbor, Mich., to this part of Florida. The law school was founded in 1999 by Tom Monaghan, the founder of the Domino's Pizza chain and champion of conservative Roman Catholic causes.
