Thought I'd report back on how we weathered the storm here in Arkansas.
We chose not to winterize our coach, which we are using as a bedroom
while visiting folks here. It got down to 9 degrees a couple of nights
last week. We kept the water tank mostly full (bucketing gallons of hot
water from the house in the evening), put a 125W heat lamp in the pump
compartment to keep things down there thawed out, kept the gray and
black tanks mostly full- with a good dose of anti-freeze in them for
good measure- and left faucets dripping a bit over night. The line
going to the toilet got slushy overnight, but never froze solid.
Other than burning a 40 lb tank of LP every three days we were fine.
I've seen few more pathetic sights than our Airstream covered with snow
and ice- but underneath it all she was just fine.
And I can't help mentioning: there is absolutely no way we would have
been able to get to our destination in Hot Springs Village AR without 4
wheel drive. We most certainly would have been stranded somewhere
between here and Memphis- probably over the Christmas holiday. I
stopped counting at 100 two wheelers off the road in that stretch..

Regards,

Chris K.
