A Few Extra Minutes Saves Time and Money

Here's an important tip: Be sure to use the Employee Verification Service
(EVS) to match your employee names and Social Security numbers with Social
Security's record BEFORE you prepare and submit your company's 2004 W-2
forms. You'll save time and money by avoiding the W-2 correction process.
Using the EVS can be as easy as making a phone call. To learn more, visit

Important Change for Magnetic Tape and Cartridge Filers

Heads up - tax year 2004 (W-2's due in calendar year 2005) will be the last
year Social Security accepts W-2 reports by magnetic tapes and cartridges.
After that, electronic reports need to be filed using our Business Services
Online (BSO). With this change on the horizon, why procrastinate? Visit
the link below today and register for your PIN and password so you can begin
filing through BSO now. You'll be glad you did:

FACT: Social Security receives approximately 236.5 million W-2 forms every
year; 60 percent are received electronically.

W-2 Online Makes it Easier

Did you file 20 or fewer paper W-2s with Social Security last year? If so,
maybe you'd like to know about W-2 Online - Social Security's new electronic
filing option for small businesses. All you need is a computer with
Internet access and a printer - no software or paper forms! W-2 Online lets
you key wage data right into an online W-2. It will even prepare the W-3
for you and allow you to print copies for you and your employees. You'll
get a dated receipt onscreen as proof of filing. You can use your receipt
to track the status of your submission. W-2 Online allows you to submit up
to
20 W-2s at a time. See the Business Services Online handbook for more
