Hi Marv,
I believe the blades of a stainless prop can be made thinner and of a more
precise shape, making them more efficient, resulting in a little more speed.
The disadvantage is that they can transmit more force into the drive chain
of the engine if they strike something, damaging the drive train, as where
the destruction of the aluminum prop can absorb much of that energy under
the same circumstances, thus helping to preserve the drive train.
