Pension regulator put in place through ordinance
The government on Wednesday issued the ordinance to set up a full-time
statutory Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority, setting the stage
for opening up the pension sector to private players. The regulator will have a
comprehensive mandate to undertake promotional and developmental functions for
the pension sector, in addition to the regulatory role.

US-based experts predict another tsunami
The government has been on the horns of a dilemma after some foreign experts
predicted another tsunami. The home ministry has issued an alert to five
affected states and Union territories.

Insurance claims expected to touch Rs 600 crore
Even as preliminary estimates put the loss of property in the country on
account of killer tsunami waves at over Rs 2,000 crore, total insurance claims

Delhi High Court has restrained a group of Delhi and Mumbai-based companies
from importing, distributing or selling cigarettes falsely bearing the Marlboro

Taking wing
Prima facie, the new policy looks good for passengers. Whether this policy
helps one airline or the other is not the issue. The real issue is whether it
meets the twin objectives of a) providing better facilities for air passengers
