We have a 2001 Honda 9.9 on our F-31 UC and this fall the spring(s) that
push the lever out when you're lowering the motor into the water seemed to
stop working. We had to reach over the back of the motor with a screwdriver
to manually hold that lever away from the mounting bracket so that the motor
would be free to swing to its down position. Lubing the springs didn't make
any difference.
Looking inside the frame where all these springs are located reveals a mass
of springs and it's not clear to me which one(s) need to be replaced. Not
to mention how one goes about doing that.
Has anyone else run into this problem? If so, would you please let me know
(back channel at [EMAIL PROTECTED]) which springs you replaced and how you
did it? I'd really appreciate it. The Honda dealer in San Diego was less
than helpful.
