Reviewing http://www.jtx.com/pdf/BeamCareBulletin.pdf and now with a little
more understanding of the forces directed on the folding mechanism of the
F-31 a worrisome question comes to mind, regarding a recent practice of mine.
I have lately been folding one side and leaving the other side part folded by
placing a
medium size fender across the combing at a point to catch the beam end so it
does not completely unfold. I began doing this to make folding the second
side easier and find it convenient and more stable to motor to my dock/lift in
this configuration. I do encounter a small boat wave occasionally and the
result is the cushioned flexing as the float attempts to unfold the rest of the
way. I have seen no signs of cracking of the folding
arm support pads under the beam. Any opinions???
