Now that I'm done with the major phase of my Bridgeport conversion and the interfacing to MACH2, the time has arrived to break out the installation manual for my VFD.
Environment: The drive is an Omron IDM (same as Yaskawa) G5+ and the book is about a million pages long documenting it's options. I've built a board up with the VFD (3HP size, but my motor is 1.5HP running 3 phase 220 volts), a line reactor, a load reactor, an EMI filter on the line, a couple of ferrite cores and a breaking resistor. MACH2 will control the speed by using a Digispeed to convert from PWM to analog voltage. My BP has a reversing starter (which will be excessed) and a regular starter (which I will probably set up to control the power to the VFD using the original Start/Stop button). I figure the power should stay on to the VFD during all operations so that the braking resister will do its job. Any guidance or advice about how to handle the million options and control wiring would be appreciated.
