If the boat has been out there in the salty weather most of its 12 years, it
might be time to replace the shrouds. My understanding is that the weakest
part of shrouds is the swage of the turnbuckle to the wire. Apparently, this
can fail without obvious signs of age or wear.
Others will have to help you with sourcing this. It seems that this is often
done regionally.
