I'm also seeing this issue on 2.1.6.  I'm running backups every 15 minutes 
and after about 10 hours the incremental starts failing.  Deleting the 
backup and starting again with a full seems to fix the issue.  Is this 
going to be addressed soon? Being able to create reliable backups is pretty 
crucial in a production environment.
