In the getting started section
(https://neo4j.com/docs/operations-manual/current/installation/osx/) I am
taken to an installation page for the MAC. But I see the following note:

If you install Neo4j using the Mac installer and already have an existing
instance of Neo4j the installer will ensure that both the old and new
versions can co-exist on your system.

First I would rather overwrite an existing installation with the latest
version rather than keep multiple old copes around, Second, how do I know
what version is installed and where it is installed?

Since I don't seem to be able to connect to the database (where is the
database?) I read:

Use the standard OS X system tools to create a service based on the neo4j
command.

This is not helpful to be for I am not familiar with the standard system
tools. Ideas?

Also if I issue the :server connect command it fails.

Thank you for any assistance you can give in getting me started on OS X.

Kevin
