Hi Alex,
Another way of saying "Fusible" is to say "Flame Proof". I have had
poor luck finding such resistors on mouser because they don't allow you
to filter on that attribute, but Digikey will.
I'm not sure about the "Surge Protectors", but a high voltage cap sounds
feasible to me.. One of the high voltage gurus here will have an answer.

Hi Folks
I blew up my DMM (fluke 77) by applying more than 1200 volts.
A "fuse resistor" blew up, in the manual it says
Res, MF, 1K, fusible (pn: FA8466)
it looks like a 2 watts resistor. I have searched on mouser , but nothing that
looks close.
there are also a pair of "Surge Protectors" for 1,500 V . looks like a orange
cap, with a vertical slot.
also , haven`t found any repalcement...
any suggestions ???
thanx a lot
Alexander
