Not quite. IN-18 digit height is about 1.5" Z568 digit height is about
2". That's a significant difference, 33% larger. The Z568's are quite
impressive in person.
I agree. These tubes are very nice indeed, and much nicer than their
almost-equivalent NL-7037. But I would have never purchased these Z5680M
on Ebay, wayyyy to espensive.
But yes, the IN-18's can still be had. If you ever aim to build an
IN-18 clock, buy a set soon. We all watched the Z568's become
unobtainium. I wish I'd bought a spare set for my clock. I did buy
spare IN-18's.
I got six IN-18 as a Christmas gift several years ago and they are still
sitting inside their boxes. They were $25 back then...
It is crazy how the prices have increased (and probably will continue to
do). Collectable tubes do not seem to rise in value significantly, it is
all about the digit height. How superficial.
