I thought about going solar as well. Perfect roof for it as well, except Seattle area. It was cost prohibitive though. :( Meanning, I have the cash to pay for it, but it would take 9-10 years to repay for itself with all the rebates and incentives, but that doesn't include the possible maintenance and repairs. An investment I am in is paying 14% and with compounded interest (solar you are forced to do this since you can't take out what you make back), it take less than 5 years. Has anyone found a true reason to get solar other than the kewlness of having it on the roof? (Meaning a differnent reason that being forced because of location - middle of dessert) Michail In a message dated 1/2/2011 11:07:30 A.M. Pacific Standard Time, [email protected] writes:
Mostly off grid power projects for me, since I moved off the grid 18 months ago. PV arrays and wind turbines have been sucking up a lot of time, as well as working on a gasifier. Did play with nixies some, added a IR motion detector to my nixie clock so it only displays the time if someone is near it. I need to save every watt I can! Happy new year to all!
