I've seen this before on all kinds of listings (not just nixie related).. The seller will have an item up for a buy-it-now of roughly 10x what similar items are selling for. I can only assume that it is a fishing technique. With untold millions of ebay viewers, perhaps over the course of a month one or two people (accidentally or otherwise) buy these items?
I have to admit to being very curious as well.
