That's what I was saying about them being like a nixie in a numitron
(although I really meant panaplex, I got them confused, thanks for
reminding me Jens).

It would be rather interesting if something like that did exist. i see
no reason why a nixie could not be built in a large, square
configuration. It would be practical too, as the anode mesh would
probably not be close enough if you built a tube-style readout that
large.
