The conclusion I had come to was much the same: use a 0-115 0-115 transformer with 12V secondaries. Might even use a HV secondary to achieve mains isolation. I'll have to rummage around to see what is available. I might replicate your design or again go for a GT175M if I can get the voltage spread correct. I have an isolated 110V tool transformer in the workshop so I can use the lower voltage if I have to but was looking for something I could make house-safe. (Getting things passed by SHMBO is hard enough, having a tool transformer sat in the corner isn't even worth asking about.)
