Actually I thought just to use those bushings you discourage to use, but not to solder them to the print. Instead of that I thought to (let) make some insulating discs that hold them loosely. The collar of this type of contacts provides a fine locking in this case. Then solder flexible wires between the bushings and the rest of the electronics.
I have some nice wire wrap contacts that provide easier wiring, but unfortunately just not enough to make a socket for the EZ10B. Can't find more of them on ePay and MOUSER doesn't provide the contact pin size. $40 excl postage is a to big gamble... You are speaking about a ZB13 socket on your web page, but the photo shows a 15 pin socket. That was the reason I wrote "(ZB15?)" May be it is better we continue this discussion per private mail ?? eric -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Dieter Waechter Sent: zondag 8 april 2012 9:08 To: [email protected] Cc: Neonixies Subject: Re: [neonixie-l] B13B Nixie tube socket with floor lighting now available Hello Eric, > Dieter, > > I need ZB13 (ZB15?) sockets, you mean ZB13=TSM-13P > but are afraid of using those fixed contacts as you use them. I don't use them anymore for the CD28, EZ10A and EZ10B tubes. You should use this contacts which are not fixed but flexible and allow much tolearance of the tube pins: http://snipurl.com/22yl7g6 > My fear is they give too much mechanical tension to the glass-metal > sealings, especially because it concerns hydrogen filled tubes. This is absolutely right, the pin receptacles I used first (Mill-Max) caused some EZ10A to break! I mean that ones: http://snipurl.com/22yl8cu > I am thinking now to ask someone with a CNC machine to make some > isolation plates in what I can place bushings loosly with a lid to > keep them in place like for instance done by pertinax B9 and B7 > sockets. > Any experience in that ? Not necessary. If you do it with the contacts above, the tube can not crack. Dieter PS: The original ZB13 sockets are nearly sold out - and I want to keep the rest for myself. But I will make replacement sockets one day. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "neonixie-l" group.
