But it's a _cool_ tube, right? An enterprising engineer should be able to figure out a use case where you never use the number "1".... maybe, anyways. Possibly if you mux the "1", maybe it takes longer to get hot enough to bend into the 8? who knows. Anyways, point was: never underestimate collectors. I've got a freezer full of Infrared film that has quadrupled in value in the last couple of months. I know that we have lots of users in this group whose tubes have far more than quadrupled in value since they purchased them. As my dad used to say, "It's only worth what somebody else is willing to pay for it." For some reason, some people will pay quite a lot for that collectible something.

Why would you pay 225 EUR for a tube that doesn't work properly?

    HI!
A friend has a NIB Z568M for sale.
It is new and unused and in original box, but it has a problem.
tube works perfectly, but when cathode 1 is lit for some seconds
or minutes, it bends a bit (because of the heat) and slightly
touches the 8. Then 1 and 8 are lit together.
I don't need it, so I ask the group if anyone wants it.
He wants 225 EUR net plus shipping paid by Paypal. Wordwide
registered letter mail is 6 EUR.
If anyone is interested, let me know.
    Can send pictues.
