Thank you. Yes, the speed is still adjustable. In the end its not an easy mod. It involves ~30 components. That added perf board measures 2"x1.5", while the original board is only 2.3"x 2.3". It was just an exercise in seeing if it could be done with discrete components. If I was to do a hobbyist friendly kit, I'd probably just re-layout my "Do-hickie" circuit, using all thru-hole parts.
