Dieter's website has a pricelist from 1963, and the smaller tubes (5092) are *cheaper today* in absolute dollars than they were 50 years ago. That story changes for the big tubes with 2" tall numerals, which originally sold for $45 US, and one recently sold on Ebay for over 10 times that.

If only we could crank these out on a 3D printer.......

On a whim, I just bought two 50mm plano-convex lenses to see what a magnified 5092 looks like. I have no idea what kind of results I will get, but if it's even remotely decent I'll post photos in a few weeks.
